Body image perception of quilombola school adolescents from Ilha de Maré – Brazil

The study proposes to analyze the body image perception of Quilombola schoolchildren in Ilha de Maré – Brazil. The data collection instrument was a socio-demographic questionnaire and a semi-structured interview. A total of 639 students from a public school, between 12 to 19 years old, participated in the study. In conclusion, the predominant discourse of a negative body image perception shows that obesity affects well-being and it demands the exercise of acceptance.
