Spain, an attractive country for international students in tertiary education
In most countries, the mobility of international students has acquired a growing importance at the highest levels of education. In the case of the European Union, this mobility has been related to the success of the Erasmus programme. During the academic year 2019-2020, the figure of foreign students enrolled in Spanish education was 157,835 and more than 40% of those within the ERASMUS+ program. Spain’s attraction factors for these foreign students are fundamentally: the language, the prestige of Spanish universities, the climate, and the cost of living, but there are differences within the foreign incoming scholars.
